I LOVE summer! In fact I love it so much, I try to spend as much time as possible outside in the summer. In Wisconsin, it’s really a quite short season, but it is gorgeous. It is finally beautiful outside, so I have been working like crazy to get my backyard oasis ready. I like to create a space where not only my husband and I can hang out and unwind, but also a place where our teenagers may even frequent-which is always a huge PLUS!
I had to order a few new things to spruce it up and those that know me, know I like to find the best price I can!! The best part is, I love to share it all with you. YOU can create your own backyard oasis on a budget, in fact you can do it for less than $1000…here are my finds! 😉
Where should you start?

Start with an outdoor rug! It’s the easiest way to update any living area and it’s great to start with an inspiration piece to build off of. It makes your space comfortable and ties it all together. I LOVE this Medallions Indoor Outdoor Rug. The colors are great and I am always drawn to designs like this. This 6.5 X 9 foot rug is fade & stain resistant, and under $120!
Add in some furniture

There are so many outdoor furniture options out there! I happen to have a small backyard, so I like to choose small pieces. This versatile chair set is made with a synthetic rattan weave and a powder-coated aluminum frame, which will hold up in my unpredictable weather. This affordable set (under $265) comes with cushions and pillows. These items can really add on the price when purchased separate. You can always change the pillows later to add a bit of flare to your backyard oasis.
Create a relaxing backyard oasis

Everyone has a little stress in their life and could use some stress relief and relaxation at the end of a hard day. A water fountain will create soothing sounds of flowing water bringing stress relief and relaxation to your backyard oasis.
There are so many fountains to choose from: small table top, all the way to large free standing.
I LOVE this individually hand-crafted detailed renaissance wall fountain. The finishes are applied by hand, enhancing every detail, and resulting in the uniqueness of no two pieces being exactly alike. I think the uniqueness is beautiful and the sound of the water makes it almost impossible to relax!
Bring in some warmth

Bring a sense of style and warmth to your backyard oasis with a gas fire pit. We used to have a wood burning fire pit and recently changed to this square propane gas fire pit with lava rocks and I wish I would’ve switched a LONG time ago! It’s so easy to switch on when needed and there’s no amole or mess! It even throws off enough heat to warm you up on a cool summer night. And if my boys are lucky, I may just let them roast some marshmallows to break it in 😉 And the best part is, it is under $350!
Outdoor lighting

Create the perfect backyard oasis by adding some lights. These solar powered lights are perfect because you don’t have to worry about having an outlet nearby. These lights are recharged by the solar panel during the day under the sunlight and turn on automatically at dusk and off at dawn. You can string them anywhere in your backyard oasis!
Music is a must!

Music is pretty much a requirement in any backyard oasis! Music will set the entire vibe. I suggest adding in some wireless outdoor speakers. I found these white dual weather resistant multi-purpose speakers that can be used for permanent or temporary use. Priced at $45, they don’t have to break the bank either!
Don’t forget Tiki Torches…

The only bad thing about Wisconsin summers are the BUGS! I have various citronella items throughout my oasis to help to ward off the bugs. I came across these cute multi-use glass Tiki Torches and had to share them with you. They covert from a full size torch to a garden torch and even to a table top centerpiece. They even burn for up to 11 hours after one fill! I love the ambiance these create in any backyard oasis!
Grab a drink and kick back and relax, that completes your backyard oasis-on a budget! Even if you choose just a few items to spruce things up, you deserve to create a relaxing space to unwind…
I also love to do potted marigolds because they also keep the bugs away!
That’s a great tip!! I LOVE IT!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
