You might think you can skip applying sunscreen once the winter months begin. This is NOT a good idea. The sun’s harmful rays are still as active as they are during summer. Cool temperatures do not equal safe sun exposure. Here are four reasons why you should be applying sunscreen year round!
1. Radiation Reflection On Snow
It’s important to protect yourself in the winter. Studies show that Almost 80 percent of UV radiation is reflected from snow while only 25 percent from sand. Think about this before you begin your day. This can be especially dangerous for those that practice winter sports such as snowboarding and skiing.
2. Your Skin Will Age More Slowly
Skin-aging UVA rays are just as present and harmful in the winter because they penetrate clouds. These are the same rays that cause wrinkles and fine lines. Want to look younger for a longer period of time? Apply sunscreen daily – even during winter!
3. Winter Conditions Remove Sunscreen Faster
You’re likely to sweat off some sunscreen and reapply at the beach. What most people don’t realize is that wintry conditions erode your sunscreen even faster. The Skin Cancer Foundation warns that snow and winds wear away sunscreen and reduce its effectiveness, so during winter, you can’t just apply in the morning and assume you’re protected all day. Instead, it’s recommended that during winter you reapply every two hours, and immediately after sweating.
4. Infrared Light Is Also Harmful
Some data dictates that pigment cells can be harmed not only by the sun’s UV rays but even by lower doses of ambient and infrared light, emitted by your computer screen or overhead lamps.

I love Cellular LaboratoriesDe-Aging Sunscreen for its non-oily versatility! And better yet, it’s a Broad Spectrum SPF 50+, so it’s just what you need for year-round skin protection.
Another amazing product from my skincare line is Cellular Laboratories® De-Aging Day Creme SPF 20

Cellular Laboratories De-Aging Moisturizing Day Crème with Sunscreen SPF 20 helps to protect the skin from premature aging brought on by harsh environments and the sun. Vitamins help make the skin smooth and soft while protecting against free radicals. Use this day crème to promote proper moisture retention, as a great makeup base that preps your skin for makeup application, and to keep your makeup in place and looking fresh throughout the day.

Motives® Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation with SPF 15 is a great solution for sunscreen when you want to wear makeup. A 3-in-1 foundation that provides the superior, buildable coverage of a crème foundation while offering SPF and primer, with the natural-looking, sheer finish of a powder foundation. This foundation hides discolorations and covers skin with a fine, light-diffusing layer to minimize pores and imperfections for clear, satiny-smooth skin under any lighting.

And I have great news for my Custom Blend foundation clients! The minerals contain a sunscreen naturally AND we can even increase the SPF with enhancers, so you’re covered!
